Class Action Settlements Occasionally Work

Today I opened an envelope from a class action settlement.  I almost did not, since they usually are some long winded legal notice that even annoys lawyers like myself.  Luckily, I did.  It was a check for a settlement of a class action against Bar/Bri, the bar exam prep course company.  In brief, the suit had alleged that Bar/Bri conspired to create a bar prep course monopoly and overcharged students.  I agree with the allegations, and apparently they scared Bar/Bri.  My check was for more than 13% of the original purchase price of the expensive course., or several hundred dollars. A nice surprise in my mail this weekend.
